How To Include a Silent Auction With Your Charity Dinner

Fund raising is something that is beneficial for those who will receive the donations that will be raised by a charity dinner, but it is always something that is very energy consuming for those that are putting it on. A charity dinner is usually one of the more common ways to raise money and most people seem to enjoy this type of venue in which they can give. However, you need to make it more than just a dinner and there should be things included other than the dinner. Not only can a charity dinner raise money and raise awareness of a certain cause, it can also be fun.

The first thing you need to to do is to make sure that you focus in on your cause. This might seem to be not very important because you know about the cause but you need to have focus so that you will leave a lasting impact on your dinner guests. For instance if you are trying to raise money for the poverty stricken in your area, it's a good idea to make sure that you describe the conditions in which the poor in your area are living.

You will need to also make sure that where you hold the dinner is a place in which will attract the target group of people you might be after. If you are wanting to attract a lot of wealthy people then it would be better to hold the dinner in a nice hotel in town and not a community center or a business center in a smaller hotel. But even if you can't afford some place high end even holding in a nice backyard of someone's could also work if done tastefully.

You also need to make up a program that is fun and exciting. Just having a dinner is not always going to draw the attention that you need to get people to come to the dinner. You should consider hiring speakers that will speak for your cause, you should probably include some music to entertain the guests and to raise additional funds you might also want to hold a silent auction.

Make sure to recruit volunteers that will handle the silent auction, the items being bid on, the advertising and invitations, the different vendors you will need to work with as well as volunteers to help while the dinner is being held. It's best to write down the different categories that you need help with and have people sign up for those different needs.

For a silent auction, you can go around to local businesses and ask for them to donate items or services and in trade you will include their names as sponsors on the dinner program as well as sponsor boards that can be placed throughout the location that you are holding the dinner.

You should also include something that will compliment the cause that you are trying to raise money for. You can do this by constructing a nice visual exhibit. This can be set up like a gallery with photos and paintings of all that is connected to your cause. This will help illustrate where the donations are needed and how they will be used. Sometimes this type of visual aide will help people be motivated to even donate more than just the price of the dinner.

Once you have done all of this you will need to then decide on what kind of meal that you are going to offer. One of the easiest options and one that can sometimes draw a much larger crowd is to offer a buffet. People sometimes enjoy the idea of being able to choose what they want to eat than having the meal planned out for them taking away their options.

After you have done all of the above you will need to send out the invitations for the charity dinner. Make sure to invite all of your friends and family members along with different organizations throughout your community. Make sure to send invitations to business owners, including the ones that have provided you with items for your silent auction. You should also print out fliers and have them posted in areas in which you would like to get the attention of a certain group of people. You might also want to consider putting in a one page color ad for the event as well. It also wouldn't hurt to ask to meet with the editor, tell him about your cause and see if you can't get the ad as a donation from his paper and if not that, at least see if the editor will give you a discount. You won't know unless you ask.

Once the dinner takes place make sure that you do your best to mingle with all of the people attending and try and talk about your cause to everyone that you happen to talk with. When the dinner comes to a close make sure that you verbally get up and thank everyone for coming and do your best to send out a written thank you to all of the people that did attend the dinner.
